The problem is there are two types that Don't Fit; extreme
Reactionaries and extreme Progressives. Both disturb the Conservative
masses. However, the progressives (especially the freakish techno-geeks)
make things more difficult for the reactionaries, by making the world
harder and harder even for them to understand, let alone attack... and
the threat today is from violent Reactionary radicals.
"Perhaps Homeland Security should start recruiting at SF, Anime,
and comic book conventions. Or perhaps Burning Man. Anyone that pegs
the weirdometer on their typical attendees deserves attention. Pair a
Conservative guard with a Progressive-Weird partner, and if they don't
kill each other, the Reactionaries will get highly focused attention
from both of them.
